The right words, well chosen, can change minds, captivate hearts, compel change.

When we write our values, we should avoid using vanilla language. While the value itself might be relatively generic, ideally you add some context to your statement of values by explaining what you mean, using words that have teeth to them.

Examples:

Momentum

I believe answers come when you take action. I believe in the power of compound interest. I believe in good plans, violently executed.

Joy

I believe joy is not a function of my circumstances but a disposition of my heart. I choose to live a joyful life, even in the midst of trials.

Ambition

I believe in setting audacious goals. I believe in making a dent in the universe.

Discipline

I believe in doing things the right way, every time. I believe in honing my craft. I believe submitting to discipline is the path to freedom.
